My new petite pocket pal from Bourjois

I spotted this lip balm on the Fragrance Direct website, when I was aiming for a threshold spend to get free P&P so I added it to the order as a spare lip balm always comes in handy. At first I thought it was a pun on the fact that gorgeous lips will help raise funds (? I know) but actually it is a goodwill product with Buy the Fund-raising Lip Balm for £5.99 and £1 is donated to PLAN International (when you buy from Boots or at full price, which I didn't so the donation probably didn't work). I knew the Bourjois brand and liked it so figured it was worth a try.

First impressions
This is fairly basic packaging, what I call a pocket sized pal which means they also get lost or put in the wash by accident! Inside is a silver twist up tube which is fairly skinny, but there is 2g product in there which I guess is fairly average.

What is it?
A 100% natural formula that intensely moisturises, nourishes and repairs the surface of your lips.Clear texture and naturally transparent results. It is Hypoallergenic and amazingly scented with 100% natural tomato leaves.

In use
As with all lip balms, this is very easy to use, you don't need a mirror even, just twist it up a bit and rub on to the lips. Doesn't need reapplying all that often.

My thoughts
This feels like it goes on quite thickly but it has an invisible effect so you can't actually see it on the lips, apart from a fairly light sheen. I like to use this as more of a treatment, during the day to stop me picking my lips and at night time before I go to sleep. I also use a tiny bit as an under layer to lipstick in the morning. My only grumble is more my fault, that the first time I used it, I mashed the top of the tube up in to the lid as I must have left it a bit untwisted when I pushed the lid back on!

Price
I think this was a bargain at £1.49 at Fragrance Direct. The reference price in Boots is £5.99 which is a little expensive for what it is but that accounts for the charity too.

Final word
Overall I am pretty much liking this product and would buy it again at that price. The packaging is simple and effective as is the product. It's a bit no frills but it is nice and conditioning on the lips and not too greasy. I probably wouldn't miss it in my make up collection but it makes a nice change from Vaseline for lips!

Hello, welcome and a taste of things to come...

Hi Everyone!

I love all things beauty and love nothing more than a bargain. I subscribe to all sorts of beauty boxes and like to review the contents so I'll be posting all my unboxing reviews and finds from places like TK Maxx and other bargain shopping.

I'm starting this blog because I feel like I need to have another outlet for my beauty obsession. I just like to photograph and obsess over stuff...

The picture above was a freebie I got for a 3 month Birchbox subscription, it was too good an offer to refuse I thought!! Visit http://birchbox.co.uk/?raf=19605 for more information on their fab boxes.

A... and here's another favourite, the Soigne polishes I won from a facebook competition they ran. I first discovered Soigne from Birchbox UK and love the formula. The above is their Macaron collection and the colours are just divine. I have another shade sat in my basket in the Birchbox shop so that'll be the next thing!

Mad manicures are another thing I'm quite good at... here's a couple of recent ones! The second lot I like to call my Beetlejuice nails!

So finally, I love Instagram, I am Katyj10 on there if you want to stop by and say "Hi" please do!

I'll be back soon with more pictures and info. Please follow or favourite me and join in the fun.

PS. Can't believe I bought this concealer for myself but it was so cute I couldn't resist. Poundland is a wonderful place...
