Haven't I seen you somewhere before???

Wow it's been a while since the last post! I have had a brilliant year though and must make more time to write about it in 2017. I'll tell you about a few more items I have had to review for Amazon then before I clock off for 2016. Here's a few necklaces I've received:

1. Fashionvictime: £21 - This is a most unusual gold plated necklace that actually reminds me of the Star Wars spaceship in its shape, I wonder if anyone else noticed that. The necklace chain is quite flat in shape and it has an extender chain on the end so you can adjust the length which is a handy feature.

The necklace comes nicely presented on a card and also with a silky bag for storage which is a great way to package it, especially if you wanted to gift it.

The stone in the middle of the pendant is super sparkly and looks nice set against the gold coloured metal. Overall I do think this is a pretty piece and it's suitable for all ages.

2. Go Stag! £16 Forget Christmas jumpers, this necklace is a really festive piece and looks nice worn two ways - with the black face forward or even with the silver side (back) put to the front. I do think this is quite unusual yet affordable whether you choose to just wear it for Christmas or all year around it's a great buy.

The chain has an adjustable length so you can make it longer or shorter. It comes nicely boxed so is ideal for gifting as well. It also has a nice message in a bottle as a gift with purchase which is a nice touch. I think the style will appeal to many as it's quite a modern looking piece with a classic touch.

Whilst it is a statement piece, it is not huge so not an overwhelming design. I think the black and silver design is quite a classic and wearable piece. I know I will be wearing mine for the whole of December!

3. Fansing £11 T'is lucky to be sure. I'm born on St Patrick's day so this has a meaning for me beyond the pretty iconic and lucky charm.
I had several reasons for wanting this necklace. Firstly, I love the colour green, second, I believe in luck and like to have lucky charms on and around me. Finally, I was born on St Patrick's Day so it feels like a birth celebration to wear this necklace. It arrived on a green day... by that I mean I was wearing a green dress and green nails (I will photograph this to illustrate!) and so I immediately wanted to wear the necklace to coordinate my efforts to the max.

The necklace is fine quality and well made. The chain has a lot of length options too which I like as I will wear it at different heights depending on what I am wearing with it. I love the mix of silver, sparkly and green stones, it's the perfect amount of detail.

This is a great budget buy and comes nicely carded and in a velvet pouch. I think it is ideally suited to gifting if you know any other lucky folk. \the other colour options are also a nice touch but I was definitely drawn to the green.

4. To infinity... and beyond! Ladycolour, £25.
It amazes me when I find jewellery that suits me and I'd go as far as to say this makes my wrists look really delicate! It features an infinity sign and is finished in the rose gold colour that is very popular now, in fact it matches my phone!

I can wear this bracelet without it clunking when I type and it is nice and light so you really forget that you are wearing it. I found it a bit fiddly to fasten as the bracelet kept slipping out of place but then I invented a clip weight thing that made it very easy to fasten so I would recommend doing this too if you can't cope!

The detail is very delicate with small stones picking out the infinity sign and there are some tiny stones dotted around the arm of the bracelet too which look very cute. There is a couple of inches chain on the fastening which means you can get it exactly right for your wrist size. I have large wrists but I like the bracelet firmly tight so it doesn't swizzle around and this was easy to achieve with this style of fastening. There is a tiny round coin on the chain part with the maker's mark which is a lovely touch and looks very nice.

The bracelet comes in a really nice box and looks very expensive when in fact it is quite affordable.

5. Charmed, I'm sure... Tinysand charm in rose gold £21
This is a very pretty charm, silver although the finish is rose gold. It has a pretty flower detail picked out in little sparkly stones and also holes in the shape that really bring out the rose gold colour of the charm. This breaks up the silver for me on my charm bracelet and in the right place can make a beautiful feature charm.

It is perfectly round and very shiny with the pattern on both sides so it doesn't matter how you load it on to the bracelet. This would make a great gift to a rose gold loving person and it is compatible with most charm bracelets that are in fashion. It comes in a nice box with a pink lining and also a polishing cloth so it is very well presented too.

I do like how fuss free this charm is. You can't have them all fancy and themed or there is too much going on. It's subtle, it has sparkle and it's a precious metal (925 silver) what more can you want?!

6. A mermaid's tale... £18 (handmade)
If you have a teenage skinny beanpole girl then this might be the Christmas present you buy this year that makes her whoop with joy! The mermaid tail is a beautiful mix of blue and greens that reminds me of a peacock. It has been knitted in a brilliant fishtale scale pattern that is so clever, hopefully my photograph captures this.

The tail works as a blanket with an open flap then there is an open bit at the bottom which helps with the ventilation but also plenty of "flap" ie fish tail there for you to arrange over your feet and keep your toes warm.

The mermaid tail blanket is fun to wear, I managed to arrange it over myself in a reasonable manner but could have probably done with the bigger size, especially as I am a fairly Amazonian sized adult... but I would think most normal or averaged sized people will fit in this nicely.

I think the colours are fantastic and the workmanship is also brilliant. It came air tight wrapped but soon puffed up again nicely once the pack was open. It also had a sachet of potpourri which smelt very nice and made the blanket smell nice too.

I do think this is good value for money as it is lovingly made and there is plenty of length to it so it will cover a long way if you wriggle further in to it.

7. Kissliss hair straighteners £29

I have only really used slimline straighteners before, GHD's in fact which make my hair feel like it is sizzling so I don't use them often as my hair is quite thin but there is lots of it and it is prone to breakage. My hair does not want to be straight or curly in fact, it just goes a bit wild so I was keen to try out the Kissliss ceramic straightener.

I like the wide plate. It's easy to figure out with an on button and an up and down temperature button and an LCD display to control the heat. I went with a 180 (low) setting and you can see on the photos it did straighten my hair. This was just five minutes of grooming from kind of kinky from being in a bobble to straight lines. I didn't do all that pinning up and sectioning as it was not a special occasion but it definitely did me a decent day time look.

The irons have a decently long flexible cable and a UK plug on them so they were within reach of my mirror for me to properly see what I was doing. I would use these again as they are fast and efficient.
I left them on a heat proof mat after switching off to cool down and touched the outside of the plate to see how heated it was. It was definitely warm but not burning so if it did come in to contact with your skin it would not be as bad as some hair styling electric machines I have used.

I think this gave an overall decent look. Not over straightened at all (although I could have gone on a higher heat setting to test this out) but it did enough to make me presentable so I was happy. PS. The top was also from Amazon!

So that's all for now, I still have a mountain of things to review so I'd better crack on! Have a lovely New Year everyone and I'll try harder in 2017 with some more beauty posts.

... a few of my favourite things!

I've been a lucky lady recently getting all sorts sent to me to review via Amazon. I thought I'd just select a few of my favourites from the past month or so. First of all, meet my friend Carmen... she's at the local Co-op and holds all my Amazon parcels for me, for free because I have the Prime membership from Amazon. I also get lots of free films and music so I'm a happy bunny for just £70 ish a year.

Here's the kids and Daddy playing with the drone we got free to test for an Amazon review.
It's great fun and we can record and watch the footage on the iPad in real time. We went out today to do a video of us all playing with the quad copter drone at a local beauty spot!

.. but I realise this is not much beauty related so let's move on to the good stuff, this heated hairbrush turned me from frizz monster to straight as you like in five minutes flat. At under £30 I think they are quite the bargain! Best used on dry, knot free hair.
Check out the results!
BEFORE...

AFTER!!!

Well there is just far too many other things I want to mention in this blog post. I've found some amazing mud masks on Amazon too! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OPCHAB6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage priced £22 this literally made my pores pop their clogs.

..then there's this Argan oil that is a multi tasking miracle worker. I love it on my skin mostly because of how good it smells, it is pure brilliance in a bottle and smells like sweet candyfloss. At under £20 it is a total bargain!

Moving on to another form of beauty - Pilates, good for balance, chill out and core strength.

At work I do Pilates classes and the communal mats are very small and quite dirty and smelly as they are also used for bootcamp. I was desperate to get my own mat to use and the Karma Active mat seemed ideal for my needs. If the two types of mat were to have a game of 'top trumps' the Karma Active mat would be the card you'd want to own.

My observations on the mat are that it is compact and easy to carry when rolled up (the foam ones do not roll). The material is soft and smells nice (the foam ones do not!) and the material is made of a memory foam which is great for comfort and balance. It is also long enough for me to lie on and most of my length fits on it (the foam ones are the size of a bathmat!).

You're probably already convinced, but I'd say these mats are worth every penny and if they do start to get dirty you can wash them with water and tea tree oil (wipe down). It is very light to carry too and I really noticed a few envious glances at my luxury comfort mat! I suspect a few will be shopping on Amazon tonight to get one too. Definitely a great buy and one I am happy to recommend. I received a discount in return for an honest review. It is a super mat for yoga and Pilates. Buy it for £20 and you won't have any regrets.

So, my last item for today is still beauty related. In the winter the central heating and air conditioning at work seems to just suck all the moisture from my skin so I have found a humidifying unit that is also a nice light that adds that moisture back in to the air and makes the room smell nicer too.
These units are priced £30 and are really great. In fact I have got two of them.

I had a humidifier in my bedroom and wanted another one for downstairs so, with an idea of what I wanted, a large water tank and multi functional mood lighting I went for the Amir wooden effect model. Setting up the humidifier is so easy, you just find a plug socket nearby, plug it in to the base and measure out up to 300ml and then place the top on (it just sits on the top, no screwing required).

There are two buttons on the front. One is the light setting and you can have this on its own if you wish. You just scroll through the colours to pick your favourite. I like the blues and purples best but can use it to suit my mood. There are different levels of the light too so you can have a dim or more vibrant version which is also a nice touch. The other button controls the timer setting from 1, 3 or 6 hours on the diffuser part. It will not work if there is no water inside as it has a sensor and it will also switch off if the water runs out so it's great as it won't burn itself out if you fell asleep or something.

I find this a soothing addition to a room if I am resting or relaxing. I like the health effects too as it will help remove airborne nasties. Beauty wise, (that is always high on my agenda!) the unit helps add moisture in to the air which stops your skin drying out with central heating and air conditioning.

There is a little maintenance required between uses, to clean out the water bowl and also not leave it standing with 'old' water in there - I find it best to 'burn' it all off in one go then you don't have to slop a half full bowl to the sink. Steady hands are not my forte.

I do think this is an attractive item to look at even when it is not switched on it is a nicely crafted wooden piece. The dual function helps make it an essential household item and I do think this would make a nice gift. You can use it to scent the house if you use an essential oil in it too and this will help with congestion if you pick something menthol or similar. I was a little worried that the constant puff of vapour from the water may make the surrounding area wet or damp but it really does not do this. You can waft your hand through it and it just disperses and feels a little cold. I find it amazing that as soon as you switch it on it starts working immediately.

I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my latest discoveries. I've got lots more I want to share so will do a new post very soon. Thanks for reading! xxx
